WYRD was formed in 2000 after the previous incarnation, HELLKULT, came to an end. Following the success of their demos Unchained Heathen Wrath, Songs of the Northern Gale, and Of Revenge and Bloodstained Swords, WYRD signed with the German label Millenium Metal Music.

Their debut album, Heathen, consisted of a single, monumental track spanning over 51 minutes. Heathen Black Metal at its best!
This massive opus was originally released in September 2001.
